Cookies and device storage

Effective October 10, 2026. Contact by email only, at the address in section 13.

Summary. talkoa.com sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set one strictly necessary security cookie. The Talkoa app keeps a few things in its own private storage on your phone, such as the random ID that is your account and the choices you have made; other apps can't read them, and they are not copied to your Google account's cloud backup. The ads in the app come from Google AdMob, which may store and read information on your phone, including your advertising ID, under Google's own policy. This policy is part of our Privacy policy.

1. Scope and status

1.1 This Cookies and Device Storage Policy (the "Policy") explains the technologies used to store information on, and read information from, your phone when you use the Talkoa app, and your browser when you visit talkoa.com.

1.2 This Policy forms part of our Privacy policy, which governs how any Personal Information stored or read in these ways is used, disclosed and retained. Where this Policy does not address a matter, the Privacy policy applies.

1.3 This Policy is issued by the company that operates Talkoa, identified in section 13.

2. Interpretation and definitions

2.1 Capitalised terms not defined in this Policy have the meanings given in the Privacy policy or, failing that, in the Terms of service. Headings do not affect interpretation, and "including" means including without limitation.

2.2 This Policy uses the word "cookies" in its title because that is the term most people know. On a phone app, the equivalent is information the app keeps in its own storage, and this Policy treats both in the same way.

2.3 In this Policy:

3. Our position in brief

3.1 We use Storage Technologies only to make the App work as you have asked and to remember the choices you have made. We do not use them to follow you across other apps or websites.

3.2 The Website sets no Cookies of its own and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.

3.3 The only Storage Technologies on the App that are not set by us are those of Google AdMob and Google's consent tools, described in section 7, and the only one on the Website that is not set by us is Cloudflare's security Cookie, described in section 4.

4. The Website

4.1 talkoa.com sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.

4.2 Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may set a Strictly Necessary Cookie to tell real visitors from automated abuse. It isn't used to follow you across other sites, and it cannot be removed without removing the protection it gives.

4.3 The Website works without Cookies. You can refuse or delete them in your browser, as section 9 describes.

4.4 To deliver the Website's pages, Cloudflare Processes the technical information that any web request carries, such as your IP address, as section 14 of the Privacy policy describes.

5. What the App keeps on your phone

5.1 The App stores a few things in App Storage on your phone. Other apps can't read them, and none is shared with anyone except as the Privacy policy describes. They are:

ItemPurposeSet byCategory
Your Account ID, the random ID that is your AccountIdentifying your Account. Without it the App starts a new, empty Account.TalkoaStrictly Necessary
That you have finished first-run setupSo the welcome screens don't show againTalkoaStrictly Necessary
Your choices: your Gender Answer, the languages you picked, the language you last talked in, and whether Calm sky is onRemembering the choices you madeTalkoaNeeded for the App to work as you asked
The ad clock: how many Calls you have had and when a full-screen ad last showedKeeping ads to at most one every few minutesTalkoaNeeded for the App to work as you asked
How the App was installed, and that it has already asked Google PlayRecording the install source once, without asking Google Play againTalkoaNeeded for the App to work as you asked
An under-18 hold, only if the age screen found you under 18: the date you turn 18Keeping the App closed until that dateTalkoaStrictly Necessary

5.2 Your date of birth itself is not kept, on your phone or by us. The App checks it on your phone and, if you are under 18, keeps only the date you turn 18.

5.3 These items are needed for the App to work as you've asked, so they aren't optional.

5.4 The App doesn't copy them to your Google account's cloud backup. They stay on the phone where they were created.

6. How long items stay, and what clearing them does

6.1 The items in section 5 stay in App Storage until you clear the App's data in your phone's settings or uninstall the App. Either removes them all.

6.2 Because your Account ID is kept only in App Storage, clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App means the App starts a new, empty Account the next time you open it. The old Account cannot be recovered on the phone, and Plus bought on it does not move to the new Account, as section 8.3 of the Terms explains.

6.3 Clearing the App's data does not lift a suspension or an Under-18 Hold. Those are kept by us against the Device Hash, as the Privacy policy explains, so they stay with the phone after a reinstall.

6.4 If you lose Plus on your phone in this way, our Refund policy explains how to ask for a refund of the unused part of the current period.

6.5 Clearing the App's data removes the items from your phone only. It does not delete your Account from our servers. To delete your Account, use Settings, then Account, then Delete account in the App before clearing it, or follow our deletion page.

7. Google's ad and consent tools

7.1 The ads in Talkoa come from Google AdMob, which runs inside the App. Google may store and read information on your phone, including your phone's Advertising ID, to show, limit and measure ads, and to remember your answer on Google's Consent Form where one is shown.

7.2 This is covered by Google's policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Google decides how these Storage Technologies work and is responsible for its own use of the information they hold.

7.3 Where the law requires it, Google's Consent Form asks you before personalised ads are shown.

7.4 Where the law gives you the choice, you can change your ad privacy choices in the App under Settings, then Ad privacy choices. You can also reset your Advertising ID or turn off ad personalisation in your phone's Google settings.

7.5 Resetting your Advertising ID gives your phone a new one, so that information Google associated with the old one is no longer connected to it. Turning off ad personalisation, or deleting your Advertising ID where your phone offers that, asks apps and ad services not to use it to personalise ads. These settings belong to your phone and Google, not to Talkoa, and their names and location vary between versions of Android.

7.6 You may still see ads after changing these settings. They will be less closely tailored to you.

7.7 Talkoa Plus has no ads.

8. Legal basis and consent

8.1 European Union and United Kingdom. Where the rules on device storage apply, including the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as implemented in each member state and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 in the United Kingdom, a Storage Technology that is Strictly Necessary to provide the service you have asked for may be used without consent. Other Storage Technologies need your consent. Consent for the Storage Technologies Google uses for ads is asked through the Consent Form, as section 7 describes.

8.2 Any Personal Information stored or read by these means is then Processed on the legal bases in section 12 of the Privacy policy.

8.3 Canada. The items in section 5 are needed to provide the Service you asked for, and you consent to them by continuing past the App's welcome screen, as section 11 of the Privacy policy describes. You can opt out of ad personalisation at any time as section 7.4 describes.

8.4 Quebec. The Privacy policy, in section 23, describes the technology in the Service that works out your Country and the advertising technology Google uses, and how you can control the latter.

8.5 United States. Where a state privacy law treats the personalisation of ads as targeted advertising, you can opt out as section 7.4 describes. Section 25 of the Privacy policy sets out your other rights under those laws.

8.6 Elsewhere. Where another law requires notice or consent for a Storage Technology, we rely on this Policy for notice and on the Consent Form or your controls in section 9 for consent and choice, as that law requires.

9. Your controls

9.1 On your phone. Your phone's settings let you clear the App's data at any time, or uninstall the App. Section 6 explains the effect.

9.2 Ad choices. You can change your ad privacy choices and your Advertising ID settings as section 7.4 describes.

9.3 In your browser. Your browser lets you refuse or delete cookies; talkoa.com works without them.

10. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

10.1 Because we don't track you across apps or websites, a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal changes nothing further for us: what it asks for already applies.

10.2 These are browser signals. In the App, your ad choices are controlled as section 7.4 describes.

11. Information collected through Storage Technologies

11.1 What we keep on our servers, why, and for how long, including copies of some of the items in section 5, is set out in sections 6 and 17 of the Privacy policy.

11.2 The items in section 5 remain on your phone and are not sent to any third party, except as the Privacy policy describes.

12. Changes

12.1 Before we add anything to your phone or browser that isn't strictly needed, we will update this Policy and, where the law requires it, ask your consent first.

12.2 If we change this Policy in a way that matters, we will show a notice in the App before the change takes effect, as section 31 of the Privacy policy describes, and update the date at the top. The version in force is the one on this page.

13. Contact

13.1 Talkoa is provided by Inayah Tech Solutions Inc., a corporation incorporated under the laws of Ontario, Canada. Every reference to "Talkoa", "we" or "us" in this Policy means that company.

13.2 Questions about this Policy: [email protected]. We correspond by email and keep no postal address for notices. Complaints are handled as section 32 of the Privacy policy describes.

13.3 This Policy supersedes any earlier version.
